Our Certified Massage Therapists graduate from their accredited Massage Therapy Programs with developed skills in Deep Tissue and Swedish Massage techniques.

Deep Tissue releases the chronic patterns of tension in the body through slow strokes and deep finger pressure on the contracted areas (either following or going across the grain of muscles, tendons and fascia) and focuses on the deeper layers of muscle tissue.

Swedish Massage is a system of long strokes, kneading and friction techniques on the more superficial layers of the muscles, combined with active and passive movements of the joints.

Our specialities include the following advanced techniques and modalities:

    • Neuromuscular Massage — applies concentrated finger pressure to "trigger points" (painful irritated areas in muscles) to break cycles of spasm and pain.

    • Advanced Pregnancy Massage — Many of the Massage Therapists at Wellbody Wellbeing are certified in Advanced Pregnancy Massage. Being located in a family-oriented community, this is an important part of our practice. Massage Therapy is infinitely beneficial before, during and after pregnancy and can be helpful for partners, siblings and other family members as well. We look forward to working with families as they embark on their wonderful journey.

    • Sports Massage — massage therapy focusing on muscle systems relevant to a particular sport.

    • Active Isolated Stretching — stretching one muscle at a time for a flexible body that is more efficient, more easily trained to strength and endurance, enjoys more range of motion, stays balanced more easily, is less prone to injury, recovers from workouts more quickly and feels better.

    • Trager Technique — a bodywork technique often used for chronic pain (especially back pain), headaches and neuromuscular disorders by applying a gentle massage with rhythmic rocking, bouncing and shaking of the body or limbs to relax and loosen the muscles and joints.

    • Myofacial Release — a form of bodywork that is manipulative in nature and seeks to rebalance the body by releasing tension in the fascia. Long, stretching strokes are utilized to release muscular tension.

    • Reiki — a Japanese technique that channels healing energy through the hands to relieve stress and pain in muscles, accelerate natural healing, stimulate the immune system and balance subtle body energies.

    • Thai Yoga Massage — one of the ancient healing arts of traditional Thai medicine (along with herbal medicine and spiritual meditation). It is a full body massage, performed on a floor mat, with both parties in loose, comfortable clothes. It incorporates tai chi moves, rhythmic motion, palming and thumbing along energy lines, gentle stretching and conscious use of breath. The practitioners use their hands, feet and arms to guide the recipient into various yoga postures, while remaining focused on their body center.

    • Cranio-Sacral Therapy — a gentle, hands-on method of evaluating and enhancing the function of a physiological body system called the craniosacral system - comprised of the membranes and cerebrospinal fluid that surround and protect the brain and spinalcord. CST was developed by osteopathic physician John E. Upledger, D.O., O.M.M., in the 1970s. The technique is increasingly used as a preventive health measure for its ability to bolster resistance to disease and sustain overall good health.
